Industry watchers at Strategy Analytics estimate the total number of wireless
subscribers was 1.39 billion at the end of 2003 and that the industry will
nearly double to 2.1 billion users by the end of 2009. CDMA is projected to grow
from today's estimated 180 million users, to more than 400 million during that
same period, making it the world's fastest-growing wireless technology.
Driving this growth is the expansion of next-generation data networks like CDMA2000 1xRTT and EVDO, designed to support enhanced data speeds, handset features and technologies including embedded megapixel cameras and walkie-talkie functionality in demand by consumers worldwide.
