- Adware is so an annoyance, and in the last couple of years of internet record so much of adware's functional features have started to mirror spyware, which is a bigger threat. Adware that is sent through e-mail often tells companies when you opened the mail, what you did with it (probably junked it!), how long you looked at it, in what country, and from what IP address.
